Help us Save the Open Land in Draycott.....October 2008

Application 17/08/00127 has been REFUSED by Sedgemoor District Council! This is great news and we would like to say a big thank you to everyone who sent letters, signed our petition or helped with our campaign. Click here to see the reasons why the application was refused.

Mr Mike Pearce had applied for a “HOLIDAY PARK” on the site at Draycott Cross roads. In essence very little had changed from the last application and we are very pleased that it has once again been refused (click here to see the application).

Our campaign was to save the open land in Draycott with the following aims:
  • We want to save the green land between Draycott and Cheddar
  • We do not want more traffic through the villages in the valley
  • We want to preserve agricultural land for future generation

This is also some of the last remaining unspoilt green fields remaining between Draycott and Cheddar, a little Green Lung in an area increasingly being ribbon developed. Only the road separates these fields from the Mendip Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (A.O.N.B). S.O.L.I.D has been formed by concerned local residents who seek to oppose this Planning Application. Our ideal belief is that this Agricultural Land should remain as a Green Lung between Draycott and Cheddar, for the enjoyment of future generations and the preservation of our beautiful environment, and that Sedgemoor Planning REFUSE the Application.
